Player of the Match – Imogen N
Thankfully the sunshine made the long journey to Repton a lot more enjoyable.
The match was very end to end and despite Foremarke having the advantage of playing consistently on astro, the SA girls did extremely well and adapted quickly to the faster paced game.
The first half started positively with Evie D scoring an early goal. Unfortunately, for every goal SA scored, Foremarke matched us until the second half when they took and held the lead.
Once more there was some super defending by the backs, centre half and goal keeper – Laura D. There was lots of movement by the forwards who all ran the length of the pitch in pursuit of the ball but unfortunately were more individual rather than team players.
The most obvious training point made apparent by this game, however, was the lack of position awareness which in turn stopped any chance of passing to the wings. Unfortunately, both teams kept the play very much down the middle of the pitch and more often than not, hit the ball straight back in the direction it had just come.
A win could definitely have gone to either team – a super match but unfortunately luck was simply not on our side this week!
