Players of the match - Tilly S & Holly D
An excellent game to start the season! From the beginning of the match the SA girls started as they meant to go on. The first quarter saw a lot of passing mainly, towards the SA goal after Holly and Miriam gained possession and sent the ball back down the court. Amber and Tara worked well as our two goalies and both scored a goal each by the end of the first 8 minutes.
Foremarke seemed to return to the second quarter stronger and definitely had more possession than they did in the first. There was excellent intercepting by Tilly who covered the court very well in the Centre position and Natalie who stuck to her opponent like glue. Foremarke did score one goal in this quarter so the pressure was on.
The third quarter was probably the best of the match. The girls worked very well passing the ball with Constance trying hard to get free and Grace marking her player well when the ball was nearby. Tara managed to add three more goals to the score which took our lead to 5 – 1.
The final quarter was the most even of the four with play moving equally to both sides of the court. Foremarke did manage a further two goals but by Tara adding an extra goal the lead was secure.
Well played girls. Lots of positives and lots of things to work on, namely running towards the ball for passes and releasing the ball quicker once you have possession.
