Under 10 Football versus Smallwood Manor - Away, Wednesday 25th February 2009 , LOST 6-0
The under tens met experienced and challenging opposition in the form of Smallwood Manor. The game was never going to be easy in competition against a school which has focussed on football. Initial challenges from the opposition were defeated by quick witted defending play by the likes of Nick T and Charlie S. A succession of shots were denied by goalkeeper Matthew N. Sadly all too quickly the S. Anselm's defence capitulated allowing a shot to be struck home. Despite the highly impressive custodial skills of Matthew N, several more runs eluded the defence and allowed to find the net.
The second half showed a revitalised attempt to score from the forwards. With Alex W and Elliot T producing some good ball-work. Sadly the Smallwood keeper was too solid and refused to be beaten, even by an impressive curling free kick sent by skipper, Alex W. The end result was a solid defeat.
Man of the match was goalkeeper, Matthew N.
