Players of the Match Lex B-D & Mimi C
It was certainly a very chilly day but after a good warm-up session the girls were actually asking if they could take off some layers!
SA won the toss and elected to take the first centre pass. Play was quite end to end with a lot of tackling and super passing by both teams. SA did manage to get the ball to their D far more than Terra Nova so Laura, Sophie and Livi did not have as many touches of the ball as they would have liked. When play did move down, there were some great saves by the “defence girls” and some lovely strong hits that cleared the D.
Our powerhouse of the match was definitely Emily who on numerous occasions cleared the ball from one end of the pitch to the other with her superb hits. Emily also assisted in a goal by self-taking nearly three quarters of the pitch into our D. The halves of Mimi and Imogen were also instrumental in some good tackles and feeds to the forwards. Lexi, however, really came into her own with some fabulous saves and good strong passes up the field – her best game to date!
The forwards of Imogine, Evie and Lily were once again unstoppable and managed to run for the entire duration of the game. They have developed into a strong three-some, passing well and being fearless in their tackling.
The final score of 6 – 0 was testament to the fact that all the girls are really working as a team. Evie managed to score 4 of the goals, Imogine 1 and Emily 1 – although one of the goals was actually a deflection off the goal keeper’s foot.
A very enjoyable game girls and one of the best that we have had despite the score suggesting otherwise. Well done!
