A super start to the Rounders season with fantastic weather and a win of 11.5 to 7.5 for S.Anselm’s U10 girls.

Despite an initial flurry of nerves and having to bat first, the girls quickly got into their stride. Georgie H, Ella N and Arabella H scored superb rounders in the first innings and with fast running a good number of half rounders were scored by the rest of the team. The fielding was fine for a first match with some very good backing up by Beth D and Ella N on second and fourth posts respectively, however, there was also some mis-fielding which needs to be smoothed out in training sessions.

The Elms had a sound start with three rounders being scored aswell as some half rounders due to no-balls. Considering it was their first day back at school, their play was very good.

The second innings saw the fielding, in particular, tighten up considerably by both teams. S.Anselm’s did throw some half rounders away by taking unnecessary risks but Teya S and Georgie H did stabilize the score with three rounders between them.

Well done on your first match girls – a good experience with room for improvement!
