POM – Tara O’Rourke
The second match of the season saw another great win for the U10 girls. Unfortunately for Wellow, they only had three Year 5 girls on the team, the remainder being Year 4, which immediately set up a rather one sided match in favour of S.A.
The first quarter saw Tara and Amber working very well as a team and quickly taking the lead with five super goals. This was certainly the best part of the whole game with the girls moving into spaces and passing the ball quickly.
Due to the difference in ability, the girl’s game did steadily diminish as Wellow actually appeared to get stronger. Passing became sloppy, loose balls were not snatched and instead of finding space, girls were simply stood behind the opposition hoping to the receive the ball.
There was some super defending and Grace T, in particular, really did her best to mark her player and grab rebounding balls from the goal.
The final score of 9 – 0 was an easy victory which did not really stretch the girl’s ability or improve their game.
