Player of the tournament was Lily H – Many congratulations.

Many apologies for not getting this report on sooner, Mrs Northcott has had a very busy weekend!  However, many congratulations to both teams and parents for bearing up to the horrific weather conditions on Saturday.  The weather was continuous rain but our playing standard certainly got brighter as the tournament progressed.  Our first match was against Sheffield High A and the team narrowly lost 2 – 1, however the standard of play in the second half was considerably better.  Lexi and Holly both defended hard, Lily, Immy and Laura all worked the ball well into the centre court and opportunities were created in the S. Anselm’s attacking circle.  Tara and Evie both passed well in and around the shooting circle in order to shoot closer to the post.  As the team faced each match, it was certainly clear that the passing, timing of the move and possession down the court was looking so much better and quite impressive at times.  The girls had a super wins over SHS Yr 4, Ashdell and Mylnhurst B, and sadly lost to Sheffield B and drew against Great Longstone.  However, on these matches S. Anselm’s had as much if not more possession of the ball, and it was just difficult at times to get the ball in the net.  This will come with time though.  Overall the U10A team played well as a core unit.  The ball flowed brilliantly and it is great to see that there is so much potential with this team.  The huge improvement within just one tournament was fantastic to see and I look forward to seeing more impressive play later on in the term.  Keep practising and working hard girls and you will be rewarded.  A huge well done to you all!  Thank you for a wonderful morning of netball.
