U10A v Packwood Haugh Lost 35-5

Result 35-5 loss
This was a tough game against a well drilled Packwood side, but it was closer than the scoreline suggested. S. Anselm’s had a period of sustained pressure early on but failed to translate this into a score, Packwood then had a break away try which tended to damped the spirits of the side. They had a couple of very able players who normally play for their U11’s who ran with balance and composure, and as we approached half time they were 15-0 up. However in the final few minutes of the half S. Anselm’s sprang into life, with a hard hitting try that involved several of the boys but was finished off by Harvey W. At 15-5 it was still up for the taking. In the second half S. Anselm’s had about 75% of the ball and territory, but to often the final pass went astray or we lost the ball. Packwood broke away for three well executed tries which cut us down. The final score was 35-5 but it was closer than that and with better shape and handling we could turn them over next year. Good play from Freddie B-B, Jonah G, Harvey W and Will B-B kept the side going but in the end Packwood deserved their win.
