Todays game against Ranby turned out to be our most hard fought match to-date! All the girls were excited at the prospect of a match after a long absence from any games lessons due to the weather, and after watching the U11's victory, they were extremely eager to get on the court.
The teams were very well matched and the defenders of Annie, Georgie and Oonagh ably kept the ball clear of the opposing goal with some fantastic interceptions. Jessica covered every space available but does need to remember the need to mark her opposing player. Teya made some
great breaks into clear space and had some good running passes with Arabella who fed the ball well into both Sky and Beth, especially when using bounce passes to avoid the tall keeper. All the goal shooters claimed a goal and are gradually becoming more confident with the higher posts.
Many skills to work on in our next training session, namely the need to stop running to the ball and instead into space to receive the ball and to place their shots a bit more carefully rather than rush their throw and risk throwing straight to the opposition or to a team member who isn't ready for the pass.
A good but close win, with a final score of 5 - 4. Well done girls!
