U10A v The Elms Won 17 1/2 - 7 1/2

U10A v The Elms Won 17 1/2 - 7 1/2

The under 10s had an excellent match on Wednesday and played beautifully as a team.

Fielding first, we were a little slow to react to some balls, but improved through the innings. The Elms totalled 6.5 rounders from 27 good balls. Coming into bat, the under 10s achieved 5 whole rounders  and 6.5 rounders from reaching second post or from receiving two consecutive no balls, so a total score of 11.5 rounders. This included Clare T achieving a whole rounder: half from reaching 2nd post and half from an obstruction.

In the second innings S.Anselms’s fielding was spot on and reduced The Elms to one rounder. In contrast, S.Anselms batted well and through a combination of strategically ordering the batters and the girls being aware of the game and running when weak fielding occurred. In total our team accumulated a further 6 rounders, 4 of which were full rounders.

All the girls played well and it is difficult to single one player out. However for this match I am awarding Yasmin Dugdale ‘Player of the Match’, for game awareness and picking up full rounders from fielding errors.
