The first game of the season started extremely well for the Under 10 team.  Despite winning the toss, The Elms chose to pick the goal allowing us the first centre pass.  Start of play seemed to take the S.Anselm's team a little by surprise and The Elms quickly scored the first goal.  This jolted the girls into action and as usual, instead of dampening their spirits, only made them more determined in their efforts.

Jessica seemed to cover every inch of the court and always managed to position herself ready to receive the ball and move the play towards the goal.  Both Teya and Sky worked very well together, Sky holding her position in the goal well and therefore being able to receive Teya's pass that enabled her to try for a goal numerous times.  By the end of the first quarter both Sky and Teya had taken the score to 3 -2 in our favour.

The second quarter saw very end to end play and both teams working equally hard.  Our GK and GD of Oonagh and Georgie worked well and intercepted many throws.  They both defended well in the goal and caught many a ball through rebounds off the ring. Georgie made the most of her position and more often than not, was able to find a free space to take a pass.

By half time the scores were 4 -3 with S. Anselm's in the lead.

The final half saw play largely based in our part of the court.  Beth and Ella felt more confident in their ability to intercept the ball and find space.  At the final whistle the score was a well deserved 6 - 4 to S.Anselm's. 

A super start to the season - well done girls!
