Player of the Match: Holly D for some excellent intercepting and her sheer work rate
The girls arrived very excited to be playing sport for their school on this beautiful, but cold day. Despite some last minute alterations to the afternoon's play the girls settled well to a game of two 12 minute halves on courts that were outside but under a bubble - a new experience for them! With a mixed year group team, the majority from the younger year, the girls gelled quickly and enjoyed the challenge of playing against a more experienced team.
Sophie J, Vice-C, proved to be a very useful Centre and was very able to not only find space, but also create space across the court - a great skill to have. PoM on this occasion goes to Holly D for some excellent defending of the goal and some superb, determined snatches of the ball. Her contribution to the match was invaluable. We talked about next time working on trying short, accurate passes out of the D instead of the temptation to blast a long ball down the court in the hope of finding a target. Laura M, who had some great interceptions herself and worked very hard to mark a very capable GA, can work on this with Holly by getting free outside the D to give Holly an option when she can't find her Wing. The shooters had some good tries but were unlucky this time - but remember girls you were all up against older players and had the disadvantage of an unfamiliar post height, so keep going - the score line didn't reflect your efforts! Connie W proved an essential addition to the team, her contribution was invaluable and well done her as she played for the A team too! Mimi C played well around her area taking some good catches. She also fulfilled her captain duties beautifully and led a great three cheers at the end. Well done to everyone for some encouraging netball and lovely sporting spirit.
Thank you to all the supporters and apologies again from The Elms staff for the last minute confusion stemming from the change to plans. MM
