Players of the Matches Georgia R, for bringing the ball up the pitch and feeding it through to the forwards to score & Emily H for great work in the D finishing off shots, strong  tackling and super work on the wing.  

A super opportunity for our girls to practice their astro skills, playing 10 aside, in not one game but two! Our first opponents were hosts Hill House and we quickly learnt to relax our usual upright, grass playing position in order to get closer to the ground. We also developed our ability to let the ball do the work, by spacing out and using the through and square passes we have practised in training, in order to bring the ball up the pitch. In this game we lacked the necessary finish at times, with Georgia R grafting hard to bring the ball into the D, but nobody being on hand to finish it off. Our defence were watertight and goalie Imo C was rarely troubled. Our only goal in this game came at last in the second half, scored by Georgina T, and gave our forwards a noticeable boost in confidence.

In the second game we lost our form initially, muddling places and allowing a player with a hard hit to intimidate us. After some hollering from the sideline by the coach, normal service was resumed, with our three mids feeding the ball forwards and our attacking players easily breaking through Ranby’s defence. Emily H scored our first goal, and Georgina T our second, from a superbly collected and finished short corner. Confidence was on a high going into the second half with players plucking up the courage to go in for tackles and invariably coming away with the ball. We took full advantage of Ranby’s lack of speed in getting back to defend. Another superb short corner saw Emily H tucking the ball in from Georgina T’s fabulous hard hit. The 5^th goal of the game came from Georgina T, ensuring she claimed her first hat-trick of the season and Clare T scored the 4^th, thundering the ball past the goalie. Beth M and Silvia made their first appearances  for the under 11A squad in these fixtures and both played very well, increasing in confidence and skill as the games progressed, well done!

Two fine results with our girls demonstrating super stick skills and playing stylish hockey. Well played all and thanks to all of our supporters for making the journey.
