Player of the match - Livi BD
Despite not having our usual goalkeeper of Laura D, Lexi BD gallantly stepped into the breach and worked incredibly hard defending the goal.
The first half could not have gone any better. The forwards, Evie D, Lily H and Immy N passed well and moved up the pitch strongly with Emily H as the back-up. The backs of Sophie J and Livi BD worked well as a team and made some tremendous saves, particularly Livi who cleared the ball at least three times when a goal looked inevitable.
Foremarke had a lucky goal three minutes before half time which put the pressure on our girls. A fantastic hit by Emily from a hit-out took the ball practically into the D where Immy N was able to flick it into the back of the goal leaving the half time score at one all.
Spirits were very high at the commencement of the second half, unfortunately, Foremarke came back very strong and were able to score six further goals. The score does not reflect the effort that the SA girls put into the match but again the experience of being able to train on astro did show through.
Many improvements in this match although hits are still travelling down the middle of the pitch and lack of communication during a short-corner did cost us a goal.
A super effort girls – look forward to the next match literally being on “home turf.”
