U11A Vs Ranby House
The pressure is now on to maintain our 100% record this season. The first few minutes of the match did little to help any nerves as some sloppy defending allowed Ranby to score 2 goals very early on. Thankfully we woke up and started to play as we know we can, once again passing the ball well and troubling their defence. As a result of our possession, George W. latched on to a loose ball, beat a couple of defenders and extremely calmly placed the ball into the corner of the goal beyond the on rushing goal keeper, a finish that belied his young age. We continued to pressure the Ranby defence and soon afterwards, forced them into an own goal as Max W. terrorised them in the area. Then came a moment of real quality. Angus E. was fed through on the right hand side, took the ball on with purpose and managed to slide the ball into the far corner from a very narrow angle and from some distance out. This gave us a 3-2 lead at half time.
The second half was all about defending as Ranby dominated possession and put us under great pressure. As we have found this season, this team are made of strong stuff and to their great credit held out for the whole 25 minute half to record a fantastic win. The 100% record continues! Special mention must go to Mwela M. and Tom C. in central defence for their sterling efforts.
