Playing our team of seven, the girls did a great job of beating Terra Nova 17-7.
Lily H (captain) won the toss and we started assertively. Lily H played confidently and the ball was driven forward into Evie D and Emily H who brought the score to 3-0 at quarter time.
In the second quarter Terra Nova fought back and despite two early goals from Emily H, Terra Nova clawed it back to as close as 4-5. We all felt relief when the Goal Attack/ Goal Shooter combination scored a further 2 goals bringing the half time score to 7-4.

After half time Sophie J moved to Goal Defence and Livi BD to Wing Defence. The defensive triangle with Lexi BD as Goal Keeper improved their reading of the game and the interceptions started. Four more goals were scored to Terra Nova’s two.

In the final quarter the S.Anselm’s game was perfected. Evie D and Emily H improved their work together in the D, and scored five goals between them this quarter. The improved defensive triangle reduced Terra Nova to one goal in this quarter. Lily H continued to play well at centre and Imogen A enjoyed her full game at Wing Attack. The final score was 17-7.

Next week we still need to think about coming forward for the ball. Make it easy girls! Get out from behind your players and have your hands out ready. We play Ranby on the 8th February and they will be a tough opposition. Thanks for all the support from the side line.
