Player of the Match – Georgina T
It was another first game for many of the players in today’s match, so obviously it was the first step towards the girls becoming confident in their ability to work together as a unit.
The first innings saw Terra Nova into bat. Our fielding started well although there were a few fumbles at times. Emily H made good calls at stumping 3rd post and the deeps of Poppy, Georgia and Amelia W (on 2nd post) did well to limit any rounders.
Our problems started when the TN girls had their final bat and risked running on every hit. Our girls slightly panicked which affected their fielding and allowed TN to add 4 easy rounders to their score.
The girls were quite cautious with their batting but did end with a score of 3.5 thanks to some nifty running to 2nd post.
Determined not to leave with a loss, the girls really tightened up in the field and communicated well, allowing Terra Nova to only score 3 rounders in their final batting innings. There was a huge difference in throwing quality and general awareness of play by S.Anselm's when the Terra Nova girls came for their final bat, to the point where 6 of the Terra Nova players were stumped out.
Our final batting innings was very exciting. Every girl in the team played their part and with rounders by Clare T and Georgina T and many half rounders obtained by fast running and a determination to reach that 2nd post, a win was within our reach and grabbed.
Another super win girls although our catching skills for some do need some practise! Well done on your win.
