The U11 team put on a fabulous display of netball throughout the day to emerge with not only a place at the IAPS National Finals at Brighton next weekend but to win the tournament outright.
The girls were certainly up for the challenge and started the tournament with a strong performance against Ashdell.
The Match against Foremarke Hall was very close. We had been awarded a penalty shot just before the final whistle. Gabiella kept her nerve and converted the shot to take us into the lead. With the exception of a draw against Laxton, all matches were won throughout the day.
As winners of Section B we met the winners of Section A, King Henry VIII, in the Final. This was a exciting finale to the day with an excellent display of shooting from both sides. We were well supported and the girls kept their nerve and put on another stirling performance to win 8-5. For some spectators this was the first time they had watched Chloe play. They were left with sheer admiration for her spirit, determination and skill. Her ability to cover the court and intercept the most difficult passes was truly amazing.
The two shooters Olivia and Gabriella, were well rewarded for their hours of shooting practice throughout the term. Even with a huge crowd watching the final they kept their nerve and scored some impressive goals.
Well done to Fran and Lucy who listened to every piece of coaching advice they had been given and demonstrated some superb marking and defending skills throughout the day.
Nancy's ability to intercept the ball went from strength to strength and she proved to be a first class GD.
Emma had some super games and made every effort to find space which allowed us to move the ball very quickly down the court.
A special thank you must go to Annie who stepped into the position of WA at the last minute due to Lily's absence. She quickly gelled with the team to produce some wonderful netball throughout the 10 matches that were played.
What a day and what a performance! The girls had set their hearts on taking part in the IAPS finals back in January. They have been a super team to coach, listening and acting on all advice given to them over the term, coupled with a supportive and friendly ethos amongst themselves. They deserve all their success and I wish this continues at Roedean next weekend. We are all very proud of you!
