U11 vs Hill House Won 2-1

From the outset it was clear that this game was going to be far tougher than our previous match. Hill House took early possession of the ball and passed it around confidently, their central midfielder controlling much of the play. In the early stages we defended well and slowly managed to gain the upper hand. Half way through the first half, George W. took a shot from just inside the area that just managed to beat the outstretched hand of the keeper to give us a 1-0 lead. Our confidence grew and we were now passing crisply, accurately and with purpose. On one run down the right wing, Hamish O. whipped in a fantastic cross that was met by Angus E. who headed the ball into the top right hand corner for a brilliant second goal.

Leading at half time we knew that the second half would be tougher and that Hill House would come out fighting. We missed a couple of opportunities to extend our lead and thanks to strong defending and good goalkeeping from Henry L. we kept them out for much of the half. Shortly before the end, Hill House scored a goal to pull them back into the match. A frantic final few minutes, that saw us very nearly score an own goal was very nerve wracking but we held out to record a very well deserved and hard fought win.
