Players of the Match- Ella Twelves and Zara Pass
It was decided the teams would play 36 good balls with only one innings of batting and fielding.
The S.A. team was at a slight disadvantage due to the girls not having played together as a team before, however, they tried very hard with their batting and scored a respectable 5 whole rounders and 12 half rounders. Some of this was due to the Sheffield bowler throwing no-balls although a heathy number were obtained from good hits.
The main weakness of the team was definitely the fielding. Some girls were clearly not focused on the game, there was fumbling and misfielding of the ball and a lack of communication with one another with regards to going for the ball or indeed where it should be thrown.
Ella T bowled very well and was then relieved by Fran B who also did well for her first attempt at bowling although some half rounders were given through no balls.
The teams were very evenly matched and it was an excellent opportunity for everyone to gain some match experience. Well done girls – next time remember to watch the game and support and encourage one another when out in the field.
