U11/10B v Terra Nova Lost 10 1/2 - 9 1/2

Well as you can see from the score line, it was a very evenly matched game. It was a lovely afternoon and the all the girls were very excited to get the game underway. S. Anselm's lost the toss and Terra Nova put them in to bat first. Immy H was awarded Player of the Match, although it was a tough decision as to who to pick. She scored a full rounder with her first hit and nudged up the score in both innings with some clever little halves, always hitting nicely past 1^st post – a great place to aim for! She also fielded well at third post – stumping out 2 girls in each innings. Clare T bowled consistently and accurately, giving away the bare minimum of half rounders. She made intelligent decisions in her key role as bowler, and scored the only other whole rounder of ours. Georgina T had to work hard as backstop but took some great catches. After a half time team talk we agreed that we needed to play a bit “smarter” – and really try hard to focus less on the satisfaction of getting girls out and focus more on stopping the scoring. We did this with some success in the second innings – but Terra Nova managed to pull away with three more whole rounders, which sadly we had been unable to match. Keeping our concentration levels up whilst fielding will also work wonders on improving our game! However, all in all it was a super game with everyone working well together and enjoying their sport.Thank you to the supporters – and as always thanks to the groundsmen for all their work to get the pitches ready.
