S. Anselm's 195-6 (34 overs) drew with Derby Grammar School 36-8 (32 overs)
S.Anselm's dominated this match from start to finish against an inexperienced Derby
Grammar team, but were unable to dismiss the last two opposition batsmen to force a win.
Jack H and Freddie H both retired on 50 after Paddy D had been
caught down the legside and William W had lofted the ball to
cover - better shot selection is required. Elliott W added runs lower down the order and a
number of other batsmen made starts.
Derby Grammar collapsed to 11-6 after Jack H destroyed
the middle order with five superb overs of off-spin, but their opener
remained and he found excellent support with his numbers 8 and 9 and earned a battling draw for his team. John W bowled a very good spell too.
Having been impressed with our fielding against Pownall and batting
against Wellow, it was the turn of the bowlers today - their accuracy
continues to improve and there was a great sense of purpose in the
field as we bowled our overs at 25 to the hour. Well done!
