U11A v Barlborough Hall Won 7-0

Half time: S.A. 3 – B.H. 0
Full time: S.A. 7 – B.H. 0

PoM: Beth D

A superb autumnal day gave the girls and the supporters alike a wonderful afternoon to enjoy the 9-aside hockey on the Barlborough Hall grass pitches. The S.A girls were better drilled and had a more secure knowledge of the game than the opposition and weren’t fully put through their paces, but it was a good game and gave moments of real tension as the SA girls battled to keep a clean sheet and to notch up the score line.

Player of the match went to Beth D for her skill at blocking any attack that came her way, rarely letting anything passed her, and also her sensible composed clearances always away from any potential danger. She is very calm and clear headed under pressure. All the girls worked well together as a team. Arabella S made some lovely moves down the wing; Jess R-S consistently put in tackle after tackle after tackle, winning the ball and breaking down the opponents’ play and it was lovely to see Georgie H manage a half after having been poorly. Arabella H had some of the best hits of the game and is going to work on looking up before her great passes to really capitalise on her wonderful strikes and put the ball on the end of a teammate’s stick or to keep her wits about her and have the confidence to use her skills and take the ball up the pitch in a controlled fashion until a suitable passing opportunity arises – no more “hit and hope”!

A lovely game, well done to everyone involved.
