U11A v Barlborough Hall Won 6-0

Our much delayed second match of the term was in misty damp cold conditions away to Barlborough Hall where a large collection of supporting parents was waiting. We kicked off purposefully and soon settled to mount a series of threatening raids on the Barlborough goal. A cracking shot from Bertie W set us on our way and a coolly-taken Lewis J brace made it a comfortable 3-0 at half-time.
Barlborough were not without hope or threat themselves but the second half saw the first half’s pattern continued. Goals were scored at regular intervals for a final 6-0 scoreline. What was particularly pleasing was the amount of good football played. Alex W and Harvey W prompted much of it but everyone has to play their part in moving the ball quickly and creating the confidence throughout the team necessary for playing flowing football.
Rather than name a man-of-the-match when so many played well, I’ll describe the final goal which was the result of a very fine move. Alex W picked up the ball in the opposition half and fed it smoothly into the path of Isaac S, bursting forward with real intent. He then slipped it to the left wing where Ed S struck a strong shot into the goalmouth. It was probably going straight in, but with a striker’s instinct, Harvey W made sure the final touch was his. It was a fitting finish to the afternoon.
