Players of the Match: Imo C, for superb defending and managing to keep a clean sheet, despite facing a few one on one situations with the Foremarke forwards. Georgina T, for living up to her terrier reputation, hassling the Foremarke defence to set up and score goals

An awesome performance by the under 11 girls, with all of them working their socks off to beat Foremarke on their own astro surface. After a long drive, the girls were not given very long to warm up, but did have the benefit of shooting out of the sun in the first half, leaving Foremarke to defend into the sun. After hassling the Foremarke team from the first whistle, it took Clare T f our minutes to score the first, with prior opportunities going a little wide. The girls tackled the ball off Foremarke after the centre pass and a super pass from Georgia R saw Emily H scoring our second within a minute. She also scored our third, and Clare our 4th, before our International player Silvia (a novice to hockey until four weeks ago), scored the fifth, claiming her first ever goal in a school match.

The girls were very positive leading by five goals at half time, although Foremarke had troubled the defence a few times, with Imo facing a few one on one situations prior to half time, but reacting to each brilliantly and confidently clearing the ball away. It took a while for us to adjust to the sun in the second half, with it having dropped quite considerably in the sky. Foremarke had a couple of skilful forwards, who enjoyed some good runs with the ball, but unfortunately were unable to finish their shots off. After five minutes normal service was resumed, with Georgia and Amelia W in particular distributing the ball effectively to the forwards. After all her graft it was super to see Georgia scoring our 6th goal, from a cracking cross, hit from very far our in the D. Georgina T’s hard hit from the outer edge of the D was finished off by a Foremarke defender, who had been trying to clear it off the backline. Her hard work and perseverance paid off, with her claiming the 8th, then Clare T the 9th, to secure another hat trick.

A superb result, with our girls adapting to the astro superbly, and looking as if they always play on this surface. Well done everyone and thanks to our huge posse of supporters for their vital contribution to the game!
