U11A v Longstone Primary School Won 18-4

Player of the Match - Clare T, who was on superb shooting form today and moved very well on the court, to support the rest of her team and assist with the flow of the ball up the court. Great feeding into the D also, well done!

U11 Squad: Clare T (GA), Emily H (GS), Georgia R (GD), Imo C (GK), Beth M (WD); Georgina T (C), Poppy S (WA), Amelia W (WA/WD).

Another solid team performance by our girls, who coped brilliantly with the very gusty shooting conditions, to pop the ball in the goal. It is super to see Clare T shooting with such confidence, from near and far in the D. Emily H held her space well in the D and also had a good game. The defence marked tightly and the back line passes worked well with Georgia and Imo playing a big role when clearing  the ball out of the defending third. Georgia’s work under the post was superb, with her securing all of the rebounds too.

The passing was slick and pleasing, but not quite as fluid as Wednesday and it is vital that when we play a team whose skills are not as polished as ours, that we keep to our form and do not play down a level.

In the final quarter we experimented, swapping the one third players with their mid third counterparts, to give them a run out and an opportunity to practice this position in case we ever find ourselves in this situation in a game situation, due to injury. They enjoyed the experience, but we learnt from this that we definitely have everybody playing in the correct position on court!

Another good result, but still two more matches to play this week. It has been a long old half term, but we must maintain poise, skill and strength, even if we are a little tired. Thanks again to our wonderful supporters, whatever the weather they are there to watch, tremendous!
