U11A v Oakham U12 Won 10-0

After a very long journey, we finally arrived at Oakham to find that circumstances had changed and we were now playing on astro-turf! Thankfully, we all had our trainers with us and so we quickly adapted our game from the hard hits that usually work so well on grass, to push passes and fast footwork that help when playing on such a speedy surface. We also found out that we were playing Oakham’s U12 A’s! Despite all of this, our girls remained calm and focused on the job in hand!
The first goal arrived quickly from a beauty of a pass from Arabella H which found Annie G-P perfectly positioned in the D to finish it off. Jess R-S quickly scored the second with Arabella H scoring a textbook CF goal just moments before half time.

Further discussions took place about keeping our right hand low down the stick and trying to get our feet correctly into position. Once again the girls acted immediately on the advice and produced some excellent play in the second half. Georgy H, Beth D and our GK, Sky U, were as solid as rocks in defence, Arabella S worked tirelessly on the LH/W with Oonagh S and Annie G-P making sure the ball was distributed out from the centre and up to the wings. Our girls went from strength to strength and the second half saw another 7 excellent goals appear.
This was an extremely impressive first performance from our U11 A team and I have high hopes for them next week when we attend the tournament at Rugby.
