Despite the rather waterlogged and muddy conditions of our Cope pitch, the final match of the U11 season didn’t fail to excite!
The first 5 minutes saw S.Anslem’s putting on lots of pressure but Ranby’s defence and GK were solid and we just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the goal. Our forwards decided to step up the pressure a little and soon we were 2-0 up with goals scored by Arabella H. Ranby did have the odd break in the first half but, as ever, Georgy H and Beth D were there to calmly intercept and distribute the ball back up to the forwards.
The second half saw the pitch becoming even more sticky which made dribbling the ball for any length of time extremely difficult. An early goal, again by our leading goal scorer Arabella H, created a 3-0 lead to S.A.
To Ranby’s credit, they started to play more as a team and made some strong challenges with our GK, Sky U, executing two fabulous saves! Ranby scored two goals in the final few moments of the match which left the score 3-2.
Whilst watching the game from the side line, it is clear that the U11A girls have made some wonderful progress this term and they really do work well as a team. They have listened carefully, given 100% in practices and have been a delight to coach this season.
Well played girls – I am very proud of all you have achieved.
