POMs Clare T and Elsie R
This match had been greatly anticipated due to the previous cancellations. It was therefore the first match of the season for the U11’s and the first time they had really played under match conditions as a team.
After winning the toss and electing to field the girls started very well. Clare’s bowling was on target and with some tight fielding and good communication they limited Ranby’s first innings score to 4.
Ranby were equally good with their fielding and did manage to get 7 of the SA girls out through mainly not sprinting hard enough to first post and by risk taking to 2nd post. However, by the end of their first bat the girls had taken the lead by an extremely close half a rounder.
Determined to have a score they could beat, the SA girls again fielded well. There were a couple of mis-fielding incidents but these were quickly rectified and soon forgotten when Jess P took a very good run out on the 4th post. Beth M, Amelia W and Elsie R were also very much on the ball with their catching and throwing skills.
Our final bat saw the girls with a target of 3 rounders for a win. Eager to not get out there was far less risk taking, however, thanks to some no-balls and a fantastic rounder by Clare T, a final and nail-biting close score of 3.5 was realised.
Well played girls – a great start!
