U11A v Smallwood Manor Lost by 7 wickets

The first test of the season was to be against Smallwood Manor at home. We lost the toss and were put into bat. The innings did not start well as George M. received a very good delivery and was out second ball with the score still on 0. Fred B-B. came to the crease and was able to get his eye in and scored 8, Jonah G batted well for his 12 but all the other batsmen struggled against tight bowling. Angus E hit some lusty blows including a 6 in his score of 13, but unfortunately our scoring rate was not what we would require.  From our 25 over we only managed 72 runs, a total that looked a little too low.

Smallwood started brightly and were very soon closing in on our total. Ludo L., Jonah G. and George M. all bowled well, particularly Ludo who took two wickets in an over, but the score we managed in our innings was simply not enough and Smallwood eased home, winning by 7 wickets and with 12 overs to spare.
