Player of the match – Oonagh S, for great collection of the rebound under the post and solid distribution of the ball.
A squad of ten under 11 players took on Terra Nova and due to the snow, ice and Repton secured places; started at 2pm, playing in the sports hall. The fast pace afforded to the game by the indoor surface quickly benefitted our girls, who were off to a flying start. Arabella H and Annie were on fine shooting form, with Jess and Beth passing some super balls into the D. The first quarter saw us leading 8 – 0.
With a different centre and Erin making her debut for the As as GS, we began the 2nd quarter. It took us a while to adjust to the new players and our shooting form was not as effective, leading to quite a few missed chances. We made some great interceptions only to throw the ball away with inaccurate passes. In the 3rd quarter we regained some of our form, but our shots still lacked accuracy.
In the 4th quarter our squad was streamlined, with some of the regular A players departing for Repton. Alice relished the opportunity to play for the As, enjoying the pace of the game. Erin found her shooting form, whilst our defence were superb, rarely allowing the Terra Nova girls in their attacking goal third. Oonagh in particular was awesome, constantly making interceptions with her great timing.
