Player of the Match – Arabella Heap
Luckily, the weather managed to hold off for our first innings which saw SA into bat first. The girls started very well – hitting confidently and running with purpose. The Terra Nova team generally fielded well but when they did misfield, our girls were able to take advantage.
By the end, 8 half rounders were scored and 7 full rounders – 2 by Georgie H and Ella N and the remaining by Annie GP, Arabella A and Alice S.
Terra Nova gained a total of 6 rounders in their first batting innings and were also able to take advantage of our occasional poor throwing to second post and misfielding.
Despite the drizzle in the second innings, the S.A. batting continued to be very strong. Arabella H scored an impressive 4 full rounders with Jess RS and Arabella A scoring a further 1 each.
Our final score reached a sound 21.5 although after our loss at Stockport Grammar, the girls were aware of how easily victory can be snatched from what seems to be a safe position. The fielding was certainly tighter, throws were more accurate to the posts and backing up of each other a lot better.
The success of this was reflected in the Terra Nova only scoring 3 rounders taking their final total to 9.
Well played once more girls – a good week!!
