U11A v The Elms Lost 11- 8

Players of the Match – Beth Donnelly and Georgie Harrison

S.Anselm's won the toss and elected to field.  The girls kept the fielding tight and worked beautifully at passing the ball to Annie at 2nd post.  There were good encouraging comments from the girls to each other and particularly good direction from Jess to the other fielders.

S. Anselm's went into bat with a target of 7 to beat.  Despite some good hitting, The Elms fielded well and stopped our score at 3.  A rounder was scored by Jess, Arabella H a rounder and a half and Alice S with half a rounder. Two players were run out due mainly to the game not being watched and play anticipated.

The second innings saw the S. Anselm's girls field exceptionally well and special mention must go to Arabella A, Beth D and Georgie H for taking fantastic catches.  The Elms scored 4 rounders taking their final score to 11.

It was all to play for but a combination of calling from the sidelines for girls to run-on – only to be run-out, and not running quick enough to 1st post and then onto 2nd – did impact upon the score.  There was great batting once more from Jess and Ella N who each scored 2 rounders and Arabella A who scored 1 rounder.

A good match girls but some lessons to be learnt – especially with regards to girls on the sidelines letting the batter judge their own movements when running and the batters watching play more carefully when running between posts.
