Player of the Match Georgia R
In the second game we faced a less experienced team, who had been hit by absence. Still pumped up from the first encounter with Mylnhurst, we were off to a strong start, adapting quickly to the outside court and different posts. Our attack and mid court players dominated, with the majority of play being down our attacking end. The set centres worked well and shooters Emily and Clare worked hard to convert their shots. The score after just six minutes of play saw us 9 – 0 up. The coach decided to swap the team, so our girls would have an opportunity to experience playing in an unfamiliar position thus giving them empathy for their fellow team members; and to show sportsmanship to Wellow. Again we spent the majority of the time attacking, but our two new shooters found out how hard it is to convert those shots! In the last half we mixed up both teams, so our attack were marked by our defence, with Wellow and S. Anselm’s girls on both teams. The girls enjoyed the experience, the Wellow girls who previously had not touched the ball had more of the action, courtesy of our defence’s super interceptions and passes and the Wellow coach and team were very appreciative of our sportsmanship.
Well played girls, two great results and a super start to the season. Thanks to all our loyal supporters for coming to watch. Another big game this Saturday against Foremarke, but once again with home advantage!
