U12A v Trent College
A good game from the girls who settled quickly and took the advantage. Trent were a feisty team and defended well against the pass. It forced the SA girls to receive and pass quickly but due to lack of movement in the centre third this to allow this, we often lost possession.
Charlotte and Emily were superb in defence intercepting many incoming balls. Charlotte took most of the rebounds and made good passes out to the WD. Emily was fast about the court and quick to pick up loose balls. With Lydia at WD the ball was moved effectively into the centre third but seemed the stall. Nancy was very well marked so the team needed to compensate for this as she is such a key player. Georgina dodged well and made herself available for short passes but then had to work hard to get into the D. Poppy gave excellent supporting play but when forced to take a long shot was overwhelmed by Trent's very tall GK. Georgina and Poppy have both benefited from Mrs Northcott's top tips for moving within the D and used them all to get the best shooting position and pop the balls in the net.
Milly was as sure handed and footed as ever but was obviously still struggling to shake off her recent illness and was slightly sluggish about the court. Due to the various strengths of the Trent team Nancy moved to C and Lydia to WA and Phoebe came on as WD for the 2nd half. This worked very well and the girls showed their versatility by being able to change position so well.
The footwork of all the girls was excellent but they needed to adapt their passes to be more effective against the tight marking from Trent. A bounce pass is always a good one to use against a tall opposition!
