U11B v Birkdale

The Birkdale squad were fairly large in number and in size so we felt we had a match on our hands. With well over 60 boys to choose from they were likely to be strong.
With this in mind we played with enormous confidence and were the first to score which was marvellous. Birkdale began to start powering some of their big men through the middle and they had some fast runners out wide to finish off so they scored some good tries. At half time we had scored three times and they had scored five times so we were still very much in the game.

Birkdale ran away with the game in the second half but some moments of strength in defence prevented a number of tries and we pounced on some of their errors and managed to score another. Marcus K, Max W, Cameron H and Barney de la B did very well. I was also impressed with the brave younger and smaller boys who tried very hard.

All in all I was reasonably impressed with our boys and I think they will improve quickly with rigorous coaching. Well done!
