U11B v Foremarke Hall Lost by 4 wickets

This was an exciting match between two evenly matched teams. S Anselm’s lost the toss and was put in to bat. Despite some early losses, the rot stopped with the arrival of Man of the Match Charlie S (38), with able assistance from Tom D (21). Together they forged a partnership putting 89 runs on the board, which allowed the team to declare at tea on 131 for the loss of 7 wickets.

Foremarke had no intention of yielding gently and they came in firing on all cylinders. Their opening pair raced towards our total and it all came down to the final over, in which 9 runs were required to win. With 3 runs needed from the last ball, their No 8 batsman scored a mighty four and victory was narrowly theirs.

S Anselm’s can be proud of their grit and determination but there is much to work on for the next fixture. In particular, plenty of bowling practice in the nets would help enormously. We lack a little fire power in this area and greater accuracy is needed if we are to put the opposition under more consistent pressure.
