U11B v Foremarke Hall Won 1-0

S.Anselm’s extended their run in recent U11B matches on the Foremarke astro to a remarkable three wins out of three (6-0 in 2008 (Montagu C three goals), 6-0 in 2006 (Jordan W five goals)) with a superb all round team performance. There was excellent stickwork and control from Matthew N and Lewis J, who had an inspired game, strength from Cameron D and Theo H at the back, impressive wing play by Andrew C and all led by the unflappable Lewis H. On a few occasions Nick T had to come to the rescue, and he didn’t let us down! He was alert and showed quick reactions when required – you were in goal because you were the first person I met on Monday morning when I arrived at school! An inspired choice!
Our passing was very good and despite us playing more ‘long balls’ whilst Foremarke opted for the ‘square pass’, a result of our different hockey background, a cross found the unmarked Andrew C at the far post to secure the only goal of the match. One area to work on is in the ‘D’ – we must shoot when we have the opportunity rather than hesitating or thinking someone else might be better to have a go! That said, we were all very happy with the result and will be pushing for an ‘A’ team place on Saturday … if the 2nd years don’t get there first!
