U11B v Oakham School U11A Lost 7-6

A very good team effort, in this the first match of the season.
We arrived late (due to traffic) to find Oakham doing some extensive warm-up drills but we were not put off by this! We got stuck in straight away, scoring 2 goals in the first quarter, attacking well, particularly Ella N and Fran B, linking the attack and defence very competently. In the second quarter of 10 minutes, we again managed to score 2 goals, Mariella G and Erin S continuing to work very nicely together, attempting some difficult shots on goal. We were 4-3 up at half time, so had everything to play for. Unfortunately, the third quarter was low scoring, both teams only managing one goal a piece. It was at this stage in the match that we started playing defensively, Ella R and Ella T were put to the test but played well and Sky U working tirelessly, intercepting many of Oakham's passes. Into the last quarter, the score very close at 5-4 to us, it was going to be exciting. Alice S and Sky U were the two stars of this quarter, dominating the game. However despite this, Oakham found their form and managed to clock up 3 goals to our 1 goal. Bad luck girls, there was probably too much passing involved in the circle and I would suggest having a shot on goal and take the rebound for another attempt, like you did in the first two quarters of the match...
On the whole though, an impressive start to the season, very well played everybody.
