S Anselm’s won the toss and decided to put Terra Nova into bat. After a slow start, Terra Nova began to score a lot of runs and they were on 54 runs after half their 20 overs. Lewis S took a couple of important wickets, and Henry L supported well with another two wickets. However, Terra Nova managed to make an impressive 119 runs in their 20 overs, for the loss of 6 wickets. Some poor fielding on occasions did not help the situation.
It was always going to be a difficult job to overtake such a big total and S Anselm’s started hesitantly, scoring only 34 runs in their first 10 overs, well behind Terra Nova’s run rate. Henry L looked the part and stuck around for a bit for his 5 runs but he needs to hit the ball a little harder and to move his feet more. Max W started well with a couple of boundaries but he was bowled for 9 runs after only a short innings. Oscar K put up more of a fight and he was the only player to look truly threatening. He scored a creditable 17 runs, with some support from Peter T, who scored 6 runs before being bowled. In the end, S Anselm’s managed to make 65 runs in their 20 overs, for the loss of 6 wickets. Plenty to work on for the next fixture.
