P.O.M. Fantastic play from Ella T and Arabella A

It was a super opportunity for the U11B to be playing once again on astro and gaining valuable experience. After a very quick warm up, The Elms were determined to start the matches as soon as possible! It therefore took S. Anselm’s the first half to really settle down and play with determination. Ella T and Arabella A were absolutely outstanding and without these two players the scoreline could have been rather one sided. Ella T and Arabella A were hungry for the ball and were determined to ensure that S. Anselm’s had opportunities on goal. The rest of the team at this point were very happy to allow these two players to do all the work! At half time it was time for a quick coaching session on positional play and basic ball handling skills, of which all players took on board. In the second half the standard of play was better and Issy H, Arabella A, Ella T and Imogine H really came to life. Fran B also made some effective saves to ensure that the scoreline remained low. The passing and positioning was much improved, however defending as a whole team is certainly an area to work on for the future. The Elm’s went 1 – 0 into the lead but this was only due to poor defending and this can be easily remedied for the future. After a little bit of individual key coaching points, the difference in play was immense. The U11B team were capable of winning today but they just need a little bit more attention to getting the basics right and with this in mind we should see some super results in the future. Once again I would like to say that Ella T and Arabella A not only put 100% into their match but were outstanding role models for sport at S. Anselm’s. MPN
