This was a superb match with two very equal teams. The battle was joined immediately from the whistle with no early advances to either side. The minimal pitch space led to some clustered play, where the S. Anselm’s style of tenacious tackling forced a succession of penalty corners. The opposition exhibited a slightly better passing game which on a larger pitch would have caused real problems, it was however fairly evenly matched against Anselm’s die hard ferocity. Sadly The Elms were able to penetrate the defences just once, draw out the superb keeper, Tom D and dribble the ball home. Max W had several attempts on goal, which were continually denied by some great saves. Toby C and Bertie S worked immensely hard around the pitch but never found the space to really produce the goods. The final whistle left the team defeated by the slimmest margin.
