U11B v Westbourne Won 8-2

U11B Squad: Lydia G, Yasmin D, Izzy F, Amelia M, Vicky A (Forwards); Sopohia D (Mid); Grace F, Jess P, Zara P (Backs); Emily A (Goalie).

Player of the Match: Yasmin D, for capitalizing on goal scoring opportunities.

It has been super to see our under 11b girls growing in match confidence and working hard on their stick skills in order to improve. Their match against Foremarke was pleasing and they continued the good form in this match too. Our first goal came in the first two minutes, with the girls enjoying the majority of attacking play in the first half. Our forwards, Izzy, Lydia and Yasmin worked well together, remembering their square and through passes, which we have spent a lot of time on in training. The first ten minutes went very well, with four goals being scored, three by Yasmin and one by Izzy.

In the second quarter Westbourne found their form and managed to break through our defence at one stage for a one on one with goalie Emily A, who made a tremendous save. On other occasions, the Westbourne attack were effectively dealt with by backs Grace and Jess, who committed to tackles impressively. Sophia D was excellent as centre mid, working tirelessly to bring the ball up the pitch and distributing it very effectively to our three forwards. Lydia G also played well, making some plucky tackles to win the ball, then selflessly passing it to others to score the goals. It was great to give our three subs, Amelia M, Vicky A and Zara a real game and thanks to the other squad members, who moved positions to accommodate them.  

In the second half Westbourne upped their game, scoring two goals against us, but our team kept working hard, to ensure they score eight overall.

Thanks to all of our supporters and lovely to welcome Nat West back from maternity leave to umpire this game after she has been busy looking after her new daughter Nell. Well played girls, you demonstrated fabulous team work and game play in this match, keep it up for next week!
