This was a super game with everyone playing with real commitment and enthusiasm. All the S.A girls seem to have come on leaps and bounds in their hockey – both in terms of working together as a team and in terms of individual skills.
Fran B very ably rallied the girls at the start while Erin S greeted the team in the car park. The time before the match was well used for a great warm up, some drills and tactics. The girls had to think about how best to capitalise on the lack of a goalie for the opposition.
Erin S was very solid and secure in her tackling at the back, and very rarely allowed the ball passed her. On the odd occasion when she did Fran B kept her head and a clean sheet. Arabella A (scorer of 3 goals) and Ella T showed some super feisty and determined play, tackling every ball down. Issy H had some lovely hits which were able to create space and open up chances – one of her hits led directly to the fourth goal.
Player of the Match went to Keeley R for her sheer work rate on and off the ball and for converting 2 great goals.
The girls have agreed to think about keeping the width for future games – attacking wide and defending narrow – and also talking to each other a bit more to reduce the tendency for a bit of muddling on the ball. All in all it was a great result for the girls and well done to each and every member of the team.
