Having won the toss, Grace Dieu elected to field first. We got off to a fairly slow start, either not hitting the ball, or hitting it backwards. The sound Grace Dieu backstop and 2^nd post fielder prevented us from capitalizing from such hits. Ella R scored our first half rounder, followed by Lydia G scoring our first full rounder, which got our batting underway. Issy  F scored a great rounder after a well placed left handed hit, Lydia scored another full rounder and Ella R sneaked a final one on the last ball of the innings.

Tikara H stopped the first Grace Dieu batter’s big hit, with super fielding, but an unfortunate overthrow to 2^nd post enabled her to capitalize on our fielding error. Lydia G was very good as 2^nd deep and Tikara H stumped a player out at 3^rd post. Sophia bowled consistently and worked well with backstop Ella R. We now need to look at passing from backstop to 2^nd post though, to stump more players out at 1^st post. Half time saw us winning by one rounder in this closely contested game.

We again got off to a slow start in the 2^nd batting innings, with Ella T and Amelia M both eventually scoring a half rounder to get the ball rolling. We then sadly had a run of players being called out, before the remaining girls risked their last bat and got the game going, with Issy, Isobel, Ella T, Amelia M all adding to our scoring total. Our 2^nd fielding innings was good and consistent. Sophia mixed up her delivery when bowling to keep the Grace Dieu batters on their toes. Tikara and Ella T worked well together, to stop the half rounders, with Ella also vocally supporting the rest of the team. In the end, a missed catch and a fumbled field to second post meant Grace Dieu took the lead, winning the game by a mere half a rounder, unlucky girls!
