After a long journey to Oakham the girls had very little warm up time to get themselves focused for the first match of the season. Play started very quickly.The first five minutes saw what appeared to be two even sided teams. However a goal by Oakham gave them confidence for the rest of the match. Despite some moments of good attacking play and some excellent defence work by Tikara we never managed to score. Isabella had some good shots at goal but all unfortunately missed . Parent support was excellent and despite willing the ball into goal, luck never seemed to be on our side as the Oakham defence always managed to clear the ball. Lulu played very well and moved into centre forward position after the first half to get more chance to attack.
It was good to see so many girls get the chance to play for school so early in the season and it also enabled us to plan our next games sessions to develop skills that were missing on the day.
The 5-0 was not a true reflection on the game as we had lots of play. A good effort by everyone. Well done.
