The match was played in great spirit by both sides but S. Anselm’s certainly flew out of the blocks despite having travelled for a long time on the coach. Within fifteen minutes Cameron H and Lewis S had both scored terrific tries that were the result of some good recycled ball. The boys were running hard and making important tackles. However, complacency crept in and Maidwell managed to respond with two fairly soft tries as our backline failed to make crucial tackles. At half time S. Anselm’s were 12-10 down.

The second half was tough but continued enthusiasm and determination ensured that Lewis S went over for another try to ensure S. Anselm’s won 17-12. Toby C converted the last try. The boys played with great gusto (getting close to scoring more tries) but we must still work on our presentation of the ball, rucking, and our scrummage.
