On a very wet evening, the U11/10 mixed rounders team set off to play Longstone in a friendly match of rounders.  It was great to see the Longstone team, the last time we saw the girls was at our U11 netball tournament held in March - The girls were very excited to be playing each other once again.

In the first match, Longstone took time to settle down however as the girls experienced more match practice they batted with confidence and managed to score a total 4 rounders.  These were scored through half rounders.  S.Anselm's remained solid in the field.  Super fielding from all the deep fielders with great communication and solid throws into 2nd post - Teya S.  Arabella H and Annie G-P were consistent throughout the 1st innings and managed to maintain this into the second innings.  Once S.Anselm's went into bat for the first innings, the rain got heavier however, the players did not let this dampen spirits!! Overall the whole team contributed to half rounders and full rounders and the team were on top form - a great atmosphere, the first innings ended S.Anselm's 6 and Longstone 4. A great match.  In the second innings, the Longstone team put on a few half rounders quickly.  However, a few half rounders were given away from S.Anselm's through lack of concentration. When the team were focussed, they put the pressure on and worked well as a team, lily R, Georgina H, Hannah S started to put the pressure on and the post players really played their part.  In the second innings, Longstone scored 4 and a half rounders.  S.Anselm's managed to pip the second team to the post by half a rounder with all the S.Anselm's team batting consistently and striking the ball well.  final score was Longstone 4 and a half and S.Anselm's 5.  The match finished off with a fine spread of homemade cakes and juice.  Thank you to Great Longstone for hosting a super fixture - we look forward to our next match.  Another thank you to our parents for their support through the wind and rain.
