Wednesday 24th June 2009
S.Anselm’s 167 all out (30 overs) beat Grosvenor 115-6 (30 overs) by 52 runs
This was an excellent team performance with all eleven players contributing to a pleasing win. The S.Anselm’s innings got off to a sensible start with Charles B and James B accumulating their runs wisely. Charles B being the first wicket to fall with the score on 33. Max H then joined James and they added 35 runs before Max lost his wicket for 19. James was playing a fantastic innings being particularly severe on any poor deliveries. His innings was even more remarkable as wickets were falling on a regular basis. David C played a good supporting role staying at the wicket for some time and this enabled James to reach his century (his second of the season) an achievement to be proud of, he was soon out after this milestone for 103. The S. Anselm’s innings closed on 167.
S.Anselm’s bowled tightly at the beginning of the Grosvenor innings, Max H being unlucky not to take a wicket. Rufus L bowled an excellent spell picking up the first three wickets. Jacques T, Alfred H, David C, Ollie N, Toby S , Montagu C and Harry R-S all bowled well with David and Ollie picking up one wicket each and there was a run out. The Grosvenor innings closed on 115 and an excellent 52 run victory earned. A very pleasing win and a good preparation for a sterner test at Trent College on Saturday.
