U12 v Terra Nova Won 31 1/2 - 9 1/2

There was a real team spirit and comradeship about our under 12 team today, who welcomed the opportunity to play together as a year group for the first time this term. Having lost the toss, we were put into bat and got off to a strong start, with Arabella H, Jess RS, Annie GP and Alice S all batting particularly well and belting the ball all over the field, to keep the Terra Nova deeps on their toes. Our pace around the posts was also good, and everybody worked hard to score the halves too. After a mighty fine 17½ rounders we showed we could also field impressively, with backstop Georgy H and new to the 1^st post position Alice S working dynamically together, to stump out several unfortunate Terra Nova batters, who had missed the ball. Annie GP bowled well, including some superb donkey drops in her delivery, to keep the TN batters on their toes. Her and Jess RS took two great catches, with Jess’ being out in the deep. Arabella H reacted very speedily to balls hit her way, covering a lot of ground to reach them, and hers, Ella N’s and Erin S’ throws were super, accurate and quick, to prevent the TN big hitters from scoring a full rounder. Georgy H also covering 4^th post, worked hard to catch the big throws from the deep too.  Arabella A also worked hard to collect balls and kept it tight on 2^nd post to keep the TN half rounder tally down.

After more of the same in the second innings we left the field triumphant! All in all a solid, slick team performance, with the girls working hard on the previous weaker areas. Thanks to Jess’ mum, our sole supporter of this game. Well played girls, keep it up for the next fixture!
